Easy Strawberry Freezer Jam in 5 Minutes (No Cooking Required)
There is a jar of strawberry freezer jam in my fridge right now, and it took me about five minutes to make. No canning kettle, no candy thermometer, no afternoon lost to a hot stove. If your only experience with homemade jam is the traditional route, with a box of pectin and cups and cups of sugar boiled down and left to set overnight, the way I make it is going to feel almost too easy.
The shortcut is Cornaby’s Jam in a Jiffy, a complete no cook mix that does all the work for you. You stir it into mashed fruit and that is the whole job. It uses less sugar than a cooked recipe, and since the fruit never gets heated, the jam actually tastes like fresh strawberries instead of something scraped out of a store jar.
I filmed the whole thing so you can watch me make a batch from mashing to freezer, then use that same jam three ways beyond spreading it on toast. Press play below to see how it comes together, and I have written out every recipe underneath, along with the questions I get asked most about freezer jam

RECIPE 1
Strawberry Freezer Jam with Jam in a Jiffy
Here is the recipe written out so you can make it anytime without rewinding the video. The ratio is what makes it foolproof: two pounds of fruit to one bag of mix, and no cooking involved. Everything you need to know fits on a single card.
One choice is yours to make. Mash the berries by hand for a chunkier jam with more texture, or run them through a food processor or blender for something smoother. I go chunky, but there is no wrong answer, and either way you are looking at finished jam in minutes.
Strawberry Freezer Jam
Ingredients
- 4 cups (2 lbs) fresh strawberries, lightly mashed
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 pouch Cornaby’s Jam in a Jiffy (red 18 oz bag)
Yield: Approximately 6 cups Servings: About 48 (2 Tbs each)
Instructions
Lightly mash your strawberries to the texture you like, then stir in the water. Slowly pour in the entire pouch of Jam in a Jiffy while stirring, and keep stirring until the jam is smooth and shiny, about one minute. Let it stand for about five minutes so it can set up, then give it a final stir. Spoon it into jars or freezer-safe containers in whatever portions suit you. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 1 year. No matter when you open it, it still tastes as fresh as the day you made it.
Pro Tip
If you like a thicker, chunkier jam, mash the berries by hand and don’t add the water. You can always add more if you want a thinner consistency or you can whisk in a tablespoon or two of E-Z Gel if you want it thicker. If you would rather have a thinner, more spreadable jam, puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor. This releases more of the natural juices. Add more water as desired.
RECIPE 2
Strawberry Protein Smoothie
Think of a scoop of this jam as a shortcut smoothie base. It is already sweet, thick, and full of real strawberry, so it does the job of the frozen fruit, the sugar, and the flavoring all at once. That means fewer ingredients on the counter and a blender that actually rinses clean.
This is my standby low-carb, high protein breakfast, and it comes together in about two minutes. If you like things on the sweeter side, a spoonful of our Allulose stirs right in without adding any carbs.
Strawberry Protein Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup strawberry freezer jam
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1 cup ice
- Allulose to taste (optional)
Yield: 1 large smoothie Servings: 1
Instructions
Add the strawberry freezer jam, almond milk, Greek yogurt, protein powder, and ice to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste and add a little Allulose if you want it sweeter, then blend again. Pour and enjoy right away.
Pro Tip
Because the jam is already sweetened and thickened, you do not need any fresh fruit or extra sugar to get a rich, fruity smoothie. Use more or less jam to dial the strawberry flavor up or down.
RECIPE 3
Strawberry Turnovers
A sheet of store-bought puff pastry turns this jam into bakery-style turnovers with almost no effort. Cut, fill, fold, bake. A spoonful of cream cheese or Nutella alongside the jam is a nice upgrade if you want them a little richer.
Here is the part that actually matters for a filled pastry: the filling has to hold together in the heat instead of running out the sides. This jam does. The pectin in Jam in a Jiffy stays set in the oven rather than melting into a puddle the way a lot of grocery-store jams do, so you get a clean, jammy center inside a flaky crust.
Strawberry Turnovers
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 3/4 cup strawberry freezer jam
- 2 Tbs cream cheese or Nutella (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 Tbs coarse sugar (optional)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional glaze)
- 2 tsp milk (optional glaze)
Yield: 4 turnovers Servings: 4
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut it into 4 squares. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of strawberry freezer jam onto the center of each square, and add a little cream cheese or Nutella if you like. Fold each square, press the edges together, and seal them with the tines of a fork. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar for a darker top. Bake for about 20 minutes, until puffed and golden. Let them cool, then whisk together the powdered sugar and milk and drizzle it over the top.
Pro Tip
Do not overfill or the filling can escape while baking. If your kitchen is warm and the pastry gets soft and sticky, chill the filled turnovers for 10 minutes before baking so they hold their shape. You can make the Jam in a Jiffy with no additional water if you want a thicker mix.
RECIPE 4
Strawberry Ice Cream Topping
The fastest use of the bunch. Spoon the jam straight over a scoop of vanilla and you have an instant strawberry sundae, no sauce pan required. A little whipped cream on top makes it feel like dessert out somewhere instead of a Tuesday at home.
This works with any flavor of jam you make, so it is a fun one to play with all summer as different fruit comes into season.
Strawberry Ice Cream Topping
Ingredients
- Strawberry freezer jam
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream (optional)
Yield: Varies Servings: Varies
Instructions
Scoop vanilla ice cream into a bowl. Spoon strawberry freezer jam right over the top. Finish with a little whipped cream if you like, and enjoy right away.
Pro Tip
Want a glossy, pourable strawberry sauce instead of a thick swirl? Warm the jam gently on the stove or in the microwave with a splash of water until it loosens up, then drizzle it over the ice cream while it is still warm. For a whipped cream that holds its shape and does not weep, try our stabilized whipped cream made with E-Z Gel.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Jam in a Jiffy better than Sure-Jell, Ball, or Mrs. Wages pectin?
I think so, and so does the rest of my family. Those are plain pectins, so you still have to measure out cups of sugar, boil your fruit, and wait to see if it sets. Jam in a Jiffy is a complete no cook mix that you stir straight into crushed fruit. There is no cooking and no separate sugar to add, so it is faster, simpler, and it lets a lot more of the fresh fruit flavor come through.
Do I have to cook this strawberry freezer jam?
No, and that is the whole point. This is a true no cook freezer jam. You mash your berries, stir in the mix, let it stand a few minutes, and it is done. Nothing ever touches the stove.
Do I need pectin or Sure-Jell to make it?
No. Jam in a Jiffy already has everything it needs to set, so you never buy or add any separate pectin, Sure-Jell, or Certo. One bag of mix and your fresh fruit is all it takes.
Can I use frozen strawberries?
Yes. Just thaw them and let them come to room temperature, then mash and use them like fresh. Frozen berries release a little extra liquid, so you may want to cut back or skip the added water for a thicker jam.
Can I use other fruits or mix them together?
Absolutely. You can use almost any fruit you love, fresh or frozen, and mixing them is a great way to create your own flavors. Strawberry rhubarb, mixed berry, strawberry peach, whatever sounds good. Just keep your total fruit at about 4 cups.
Is this a low sugar jam?
Yes. Jam in a Jiffy is a low sugar mix, which is a big reason the fresh fruit flavor comes through so clearly. You are not burying the strawberries under cups and cups of sugar the way traditional cooked recipes do.
Why is my freezer jam runny?
The most common reason is pureeing the fruit and also adding the water, which makes it too thin to set up firm. For a thicker jam, mash the berries by hand instead of pureeing and hold back the extra water. Also give it the full standing time before you decide, because it keeps setting up as it rests.
Can I bake with this jam?
Yes, and it is one of my favorite things about it. The pectin in Jam in a Jiffy stays stable in the oven, so it holds together as a filling instead of turning to liquid and bubbling out the way a lot of store-bought jams do. That makes it perfect for turnovers, hand pies, and thumbprint cookies.
How long does homemade strawberry freezer jam last?
Kept in the refrigerator, your jam lasts up to 2 weeks. In the freezer it keeps for up to 1 year, so you can make a big batch during strawberry season and enjoy it long after the berries are gone.
Can I can this jam on the shelf instead of freezing it?
This is a fridge and freezer jam, not a shelf stable water bath canning recipe. Storing it cold is exactly what makes it so quick and easy. If you want to can and preserve fruit for the shelf, take a look at Cornaby’s E-Z Gel and Thick Gel, our canning approved thickeners.
